Physical dimensions are a matter of physical presence. Objects that are present in physical dimensions are a metaphor of the immaterial, or the divine. The things we make are physical manifestations of our thoughts, feelings, and sensations - those things that are of a metaphysical reality.

Physical objects may be altered and quantified by human forces, but they originate from divine forces. The divine source is the origin of all material and immaterial things, and the origin of all human experience. The human experience, when enriched by qualitative forces, is a perception of the divine reflected in a materialized experience.

Qualitative values (truth, discipline, respect, honesty, virtue, integrity, et al.) enhance the physical things that we make and see and feel, with meaning. As a result, these physical things become connected with the divine. These things become special or unusual.

Quality may allude to the characteristics of a material or of a person.

Integrity refers to the consistency of a person's thoughts, statements, and actions or to the consistency and evidence of a material's qualities.

Conceptual dimensions are designed by humans in an attempt to reflect the divine. They are concepts that structure our perception of material experience: time, property, history, culture, money, status, demographics, etc. Art, involves both formal and conceptual dimensions; there are connections between material and immaterial qualities of the artwork. In this website, the dimensions of art include a range of processes, each with their own formal and conceptual variations. The dimensions of art found here are not linear or hierarchical, rather, they are spherical and relate in various proximities to each other. No one process is inherently better, or more or less genuine, than another. Nor, are they completely exclusive. Artists frequently integrate and adapt various media as frequently and successfully as they may integrate and adapt concepts from various dimensions. An image from my own memory or dreams may appear spontaneously in a performance; or I may work arduously and committedly to translate a feeling from an image in my sketchbook into a sculptural form.

9-star

For simplicity, the artworks on this site are reduced to their most essential categories but the boundaries between these processes and their respective dimensions are diffused in most cases.

The art on this website is a reflection of my spirit and personality, my home and my culture, my relationships with nature, materials, and with other people. Through various media, these aspects of my identity move from images that are more spontaneous and simple to images that are more involved and complex. Images may occur in the form of surface, they may occur as they are stimulated in the mind of the viewer, or they may occur as part of the sensual experience of the work. In all cases, my intention, is that images and the way they are developed, are united with divine forces. In order to merge these forces, an artist must know how to also follow and merge with the intention of divine forces - often referred to as, inspiration. Inspiration is a matter of intuition and opportunity.

Art, may occur naturally, for example, in the way that light passes over an object, or in the way that animals behave with each other. Artists may facilitate the divine's manifestation (through responding to material's inherent properties) and/or through attempting to create from their own experience (through imposing their own concepts into a material, and controlling or interpreting material.) In all cases, an artist is in collaboration with the motives and intentions of other forces whether it be through interpreting their own perceptions, responding to another artist, or controlling the properties of a chosen material.

The ultimate valued experience is a merging of physicality and concept, but an artist is not limited to just one superior experience; there can be no ranking of a quality experience to other levels, as in a triangle. If one point dictates the value and direction of other points, then it defaults the perspectives of other points. Rather, the points of an ultimate and resonant experience can occur at any point, and they are able to move - eventually reaching all points and becoming a part of a more absolute form - as in the virtually infinite points on a circle. The point leads us to the line leads us to the circle leads us to the sphere leads us to the earth leads us to the cosmos and to the particles and universes that distinguish and connect all of these parts. This website is a testimony to the breadth and depth of art's presence in my life.
